$ ./homelab --build
Build the homelab you keep promising yourself
We have an assortment of servers and enterprise networking kit available to buy on our eBay shop. Proper hardware for Proxmox, TrueNAS, pfSense and whatever you want to break next.
Before you rack it
Enterprise kit is brilliant value for a lab, but it wasn't designed for the spare room. Worth knowing:
Noise
1U servers use small, fast fans and can be loud. Towers and 2U boxes usually run quieter, which matters if the lab lives indoors.
Power draw
Older dual-socket machines can pull 100W or more at idle. Newer CPU generations are kinder to the electricity bill.
Drive caddies
Most servers need the right caddies for their drive bays. Check they're included, or order some alongside.
Remote management
iDRAC (Dell) and iLO (HPE) let you manage a box over the network. Some features, such as the remote console, need a licence.
